Parameters

ParameterRangeDefault
Decay0.0 – 0.950.7
Drip0.0 – 1.00.5
Dry/Wet0.0 – 1.00.5

Decay — Spring decay amount, 0–0.95. Sets how long the spring “rings” after excitation. Lower values produce short, percussive spring decays (like a brief tap); higher values produce sustained ringing tails. 0.6–0.8 is the classic Fender-amp territory; push higher for surf-guitar drama.

Drip — Spring “drip” character, 0–1. Models the chirpy, bouncy character that real spring reverbs produce when excited by transients (called “boing” or “drip” depending on the era). 0 = clean smooth spring (more modern, controlled). 1 = full drip (the classic “spring tank getting kicked” sound — ideal for surf, dub, vintage rock). Mid values blend.

Dry/Wet — Equal-power blend between dry (0) and spring output (1). 0.5 is the typical setting for spring-on-amp character.

Additional controls

Damping — Lowpass cutoff (in Hz) inside the spring’s feedback, 500–12000. Lower values darken the spring (older / smaller springs sound like this — narrower frequency range, more midrange-focused). Higher values keep the spring bright (modern multi-spring tanks). 6000 Hz is balanced for general use.

About Spring Reverb

Spring reverb is a vintage reverb technology where audio drives a transducer at one end of a metal spring, and a pickup at the other end captures the signal as it bounces back through the spring. The result is the iconic “boingy” character heard on old Fender amps, dub records, surf guitar, and 60s-70s rock. K2K’s Spring Reverb models the spring tank’s behavior including the drip — the chirpy, bouncing quality when transients excite the springs. Use it for: vintage character on guitars, tape-style vocal reverbs, dub effects, retro production aesthetics, or anywhere a “less polished, more characterful” reverb fits. The springiness is part of the appeal — leave drip at 0.5+ for the authentic vibe.
