CrossMorph

Blending two sounds into one.

CrossMorph is what you reach for when a single buffer isn’t enough — you have two sources and want a hybrid, a transition, or a transfer of character. The 10 nodes here cover everything from straightforward crossfades to deep spectral hybridisation. Visual Blend and Visual Morph work on the spectrogram as an image, mixing two buffers with photographic-style operations. Spectral Morph decomposes both sources into harmonic, percussive, and residual layers (HPSS) and lets you blend each layer independently. Timbre Morph morphs perceptual descriptors — brightness, noisiness, spectral balance — rather than raw spectra. Spectral Vocoder and Spectral Convolution are the timbral-transfer pair: shape one signal with another’s envelope or impulse response. Formant Morph, LFO Crossfade, Spectral Magnitude Crossfade, Multi-Band Crossfade round out the category — each picks a different axis along which two sounds can cross. This is one of the categories that separates a spectral sampler from a regular one: the chops a hardware sampler couldn’t make.

Nodes

  • Visual Blend — Blend two spectral tensors using various blend modes
  • Visual Morph — Morph spectrogram A into B using 4 algorithms: Linear, Smooth, Optical Flow, or Feature Match
  • Timbre Morph — Morph timbral color between sounds via perceptual descriptors (centroid, spread, tilt, flatness)
  • Formant Morph — Morph vocal formants (F1-F6) between sounds for vowel-like transitions
  • Spectral Morph — Spectral morphing between two sources (pvsmorph/pvscross equivalent)
  • LFO Crossfade — Time-domain LFO crossfade between two audio sources with multi-shape modulation
  • Spectral Magnitude Crossfade — LFO-modulated spectral magnitude crossfade with phase source control
  • Multi-Band Crossfade — Multi-band spectral crossfade with independent LFO per frequency band
  • Spectral Vocoder — Spectral vocoder - carrier shaped by modulator envelope
  • Spectral Convolution — Spectral timbre imprinting - color Main with Impulse’s spectral shape
